22.08.2018 - Doing business in silesia province (poland)Why to invest in Silesia? The Silesian province is the most important industrial region in Poland, located in the southern part of the country, close to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Silesia is a regional center of public administration, 38 universities and higher education schools, many cultural institutions and major private companies. The Silesian agglomeration counts one international airport (passengers and cargo), extended network of highways connecting its capital - Katowice with six European capitals, namely: Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, Budapest and Berlin. The region is characterised by a very high degree of urbanisation which is reflected by the fact that 77% of Silesians live in urban areas. Consequently, every third Polish major city is located in the Silesian Voivodeship. The region is the 14th largest, and 2nd most populated in Poland with the population of over 4,5 million people. Such high human concentration on arelatively small area creates avery good market opportunity. Its post-industrial areas, such as Porcelain Factory in Katowice or Guido Mine in Zabrze, are nowadays internationally renown centers of culture, innovation and business. Katowice hosts many international congresses and fairs. I especially recommend the European Congress of Small and Medium-Size Enterprises which is already part of the tradition of European economic events. Last year more than 6000 participants from 39 countries, including China, the USA and India, were present. The 8th edition of the event will takes place in October 2018.
